 Well, after we discuss a few things about submandibular gland, definitions, anatomy, physiology and the other, now we will discuss the functions of submandibular glands in particular. This gland has a very important role in shaping the salivary glands.

Submandibular Gland Function


 Secretory cells of submandibular glands are numerous, and have different functions, but there is one type of cell that has a very vital role, namely mucosal cells. Mucous cells are the most active cells and these cells were the main products of the submandibular gland.

Another product of the submandibular gland is serous. Serous also has a very important role in the metabolism in our bodies. Function of the serous cells produce salivary amylase. Salivary amylase works to help break the starch in the mouth.

Mucus cells secrete mucin which aids in lubrication of the lobes of food as it travels through the esophagus. It was a long process of our digestive system. Hopefully you understand what the submandibular gland function.
